About Me

I was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Colombian parents of humble origins and raised in Miami, Florida. I am the first in my immediate family to obtain a degree, graduating  in Spring 2012 with my associate's in Pre-Law and Paralegal Studies from Miami Dade College. I was and continue to be a nontraditional student -- working full-time and studying part-time.

I transferred to the University of Miami's School of Communication in Spring 2013 and am majoring in Journalism, minoring in Sociology. I work at Miami Law's
office of International Graduate Law Programs as an administrative assistant. My future academic goals include a Master's in Education and subsequently applying to Teach for America. My career goals include a life of writing and public advocacy, empowering young people and pursuing my interests in journalism, education and social justice. My ultimate goal in life is to inspire Latinos to pursue higher education and assist them with this journey.

I'm a woman of faith who enjoys reading (my favorite book is The Count of Monte Cristo), spending time with family, learning how to cook my mother's recipes, watching movies (anything Tarantino) and learning new things.

You can find me on WordpressFacebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest.
